England

Kayla took this in Sheffield a few weeks ago. We're going to visit a friend there next week! Needless to say, it looks beautiful and I'm excited. :) In the mean time, there might be a little silence on my blog. I left my card reader at home and my battery charger sitting next to it. Luckily, Jeff will bring them along with him when he gets to London and I still have my lovely film cameras to play around with. I was a bit hasty in packing but I do blame my silly forgetfulness. :/

The City

"And before you let the sun in, mind it wipes its shoes."
Patrick Wolf- The City
(1) Our find at the book festival, plays written by my favorite poet (now my favorite playwright). (2) The rain and fog ridden streets of West Philadelphia. (3) Me in a bathroom on the Indian Reservation we spent the night in. (4) Saturated used Children books left to the elements. (5) Morning fog in the mountains. (6) Me rain-soaked but happy in Philly.
Right now I am a vagabond and a wanderer on my way to London. I feel lost in the maze of the world and at the same time infinitely small, yet in awe of it all. It is the feeling one always keeps when they are in transition- left over from those childhood sensations of new places, experiences, and exploration. All exuberant, beautiful, wonderfully eloquent, and any other word to describe the indescribable.
I left my lover at the airport in Philadelphia- kissing each other like movie starlets on the curbside. It was painful after having him to myself for an entire week. But I am not sad- rather just impatient for when we'll be reunited again in London.

Good Morning Light

Medium format from the past few weeks.
Right now in Philadelphia there is the Philly Book Festival. It may be raining outside but I am especially excited to see what used books they will have. In today's world a used book is like a little gem. They hold so much history and tiny treasures- even their smell is unique and wonderful. Anyway, yesterday we went to a lecture on Mickey Burton, a graphic designer redesigning book covers of old classics like Lord Of The Flies, To Kill A Mockingbird, and The Great Gatsby at the Free Library of Philadelphia.  I even ended up with a free screen-print poster for The Outsiders!

Sun Hands

Local Natives- Sun Hands
"I want to lift my hands towards the sun."

Jeff and I spent the weekend driving from Mississippi to Philadelphia. A trip through the mountains and along small rivers, a night on an Indian Reservation- waking to the fog of the mountains spilling down to us. Beauty exists in every aspect of this place in the mountains, I was sorry to leave it. Our trip was beautiful and unfortunately ended all too soon (if you can believe driving 19 hours can pass quickly). But I am back in Philadelphia with my friends and my boy and I look to next week when I'll fly across the ocean to see my best friend in dreary old England. My life is moving right now and I couldn't be any happier. :)

I have a little bit of an obsession with the back of this dress. I just adore it. In the mean time, procrastination has taken hold and I have yet to pack one item for my move back to Philadelphia. It just doesn't feel like reality, yet.

Air

"I can live alone, if self-respect, and circumstances require me so to do. I need not sell my soul to buy bliss. I have an inward treasure born with me, which can keep me alive if all extraneous delights should be withheld, or offered only at a price I cannot afford to give." - Charlotte Bronte
Picking up Jane Eyre again after reading it as a young teenager has brought me a new respect for the novel. I have reinterpreted, and in doing so I have gained a broader understanding, and as such am even more enamored with this brooding tale. I am excited to see the film that was recently released. It seems to have been shot beautifully. If anyone has seen it please let me know if it is as intense and beautiful as it looks!
In the mean time, I have spent the weekend lying in the sun, enjoying the warm breeze and the company of family. But I also look to next week when my boy and I once again drive through the mountains to Philadelphia. Things are moving so fast- I feel my own heartbeat trying to catch up.

Today

Today, it has been two years since we met. Two years together, with you, have made me the happiest girl in the world. You are a silly boy but I wouldn't have it any other way. I love you, I love you with my entirety. I'll see you in a week.
